Skilled Newcomer & Ukrainian Program Information Session

Information Session
When: Thursday, November 23, 2023
Starts at 9:00AM -10:00AM
Where: Charlottetown - 40 Enman Crescent,
CAPEI’S Construction Training Centre (blue
building located at the Royalty Centre back
parking lot - road access is on left side of the
Royalty Centre)
Unpaid Classroom/Shop Hours:
December 4, 2023 -February 2, 2024
8:00 am to 3:00 pm (arrive for 7:45am daily
day + 45 minutes for lunch)
Paid Work Experience: 8 weeks +:
February 5-March 29/2024-paid by your
employer with the expectation they will
provide full time continued employment.
This session will explain how the program
works. After the session, please book an
interview and bring a resume to the
interview. 6 candidates will be selected for
the program.

Eligibility Requirements – Does this sound like you?
- Skilled newcomers with a professional background in
construction who are seeking to earn Canadian
credentials in their field of training.
- Newcomers with experience in construction trades
who are seeking to successfully transition into a career
in the island construction industry.
- Living in Canada for less than 10 years & a Canadian
citizen, a permanent resident, a protected person or
person with a valid work permit.
- A Canadian language benchmark placement test of 8
or higher.
What else will you get? Lifelong skills & Certifications:
- 8 week unpaid classroom component: Dec.4-Feb.2 & 8
week + paid work experience: February 5-March 29, 2024
- Safety training certifications, 240 apprenticeship hours
& free worksite PPE. Employment Standards
Regulations, Human Rights, & Occupational Health and
Safety Workshops.
- Project management presentations on blueprint
reading, tendering & the PMP designation process.

real world & virtual reality, employability skills, PEI’s
